Air Compressors for Construction Sites and Precast Yards
A small site running one or two air tools is served well by a piston compressor. A precast yard, batching plant or multi-crew site running tools most of the shift needs a rotary screw compressor and a properly sized receiver tank. This page explains which duty fits which machine.
What construction sites run on compressed air
Add up the tools that run at the same time on a single site, not the whole tool inventory, and size the compressor and tank to that simultaneous demand.
- Jackhammers and breakers for demolition and trenching.
- Sandblasting for surface preparation.
- Spray guns for coatings and curing compounds.
- Pneumatic tampers, nailers and impact tools.
- Concrete batching and precast production lines.
Site duty versus plant duty
A site crew moving between short bursts of jackhammering, spraying or blasting has intermittent demand: the compressor loads, the tank refills, the machine rests. A 2 to 20 HP piston compressor with a 100 to 1000 L tank covers this on a mobile or single-site basis.
A precast yard or batching plant running mixers, vibrators and pneumatic conveying for most of the shift has continuous demand. That duty calls for a 20 to 100 HP rotary screw compressor sized to the simultaneous load, working at 10 bar.
Dust, heat and ambient conditions
Site air compressors work in dusty, hot outdoor conditions. Keep intake air as clean and shaded as the site allows, and plan for more frequent filter attention than an indoor installation would need. State the site conditions in your enquiry so the right filtration and service interval can be discussed.
Tank sizing for surge loads
Jackhammers, tampers and blasting equipment draw air in sharp bursts rather than a steady flow. A receiver tank sized for that surge, from 100 L on a small site tool set up to several thousand litres at a batching plant, keeps pressure steady without oversizing the compressor itself. Tanks are available from 50 to 10,000 litres.
Installation and service
Screw compressor delivery, installation, commissioning and maintenance for construction and precast sites are carried out across all cities in Saudi Arabia from the Riyadh facility. Piston compressors and tanks can also be delivered outside the Kingdom, but installation and maintenance are performed inside Saudi Arabia only.
Construction and precast compressor guide
| Site duty | Typical choice | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Single crew, one or two tools | 2 to 10 HP piston, 100 to 500 L tank | Intermittent jackhammer, spray or blasting use |
| Multi-crew site, several tools together | 20 HP rotary screw | Sustained simultaneous demand across the site |
| Precast yard or batching plant | 30 to 100 HP rotary screw | Continuous plant duty, sized to mixer and conveying load |
| Surge storage for any of the above | Air receiver tank, 100 to 10,000 L | Absorbs bursts from jackhammers, tampers and blast pots |

Construction site questions
Should a construction site use a piston or a screw compressor?
A single crew running one or two tools intermittently suits a piston compressor. A precast yard, batching plant or multi-crew site drawing air for most of the shift needs a rotary screw compressor.
Can compressors handle dusty outdoor site conditions?
Site installations need more attention to intake air and filter condition than an indoor plant. Describe your site conditions in the enquiry and we will discuss the filtration and service plan for it.
What size tank do I need for jackhammer or blasting work?
Size the tank to the surge, not the average flow — these tools draw air in sharp bursts. Tanks are available from 50 to 10,000 litres.
Do you install screw compressors at construction sites outside Riyadh?
Yes. Screw compressor delivery, installation, commissioning and maintenance are available across all cities in Saudi Arabia, worked from the Riyadh facility.
What is the working pressure of your screw compressors?
10 bar across the screw range, 20 to 100 HP.
